Where each code works
Chat messages
The default chat resource colors messages sent with chat:addMessage and chat commands. Besides ^0–^9 it accepts any hex color as ^#RRGGBB, for example ^#ff8800. A style such as ^* lasts until ^r.
Notifications and on-screen text
Text drawn by the game (feed notifications, help text, subtitles, 3D text) uses ~ tags. ~s~ returns to the default color, ~h~ switches bold on and off and ~n~ starts a new line. Tags such as ~INPUT_CONTEXT~ show a key and stay as typed in this preview.
Server name in the server list
Since 21 October 2026 the server name, project name and tags are set in the Cfx Portal, not in server.cfg. Cfx has not documented which color codes the Portal keeps, so check the server list after you save. The server.cfg builder writes the rest of your config.
