FiveM HUD Scripts: Compare Readability and Integrations

By Luke

The right FiveM HUD displays accurate information clearly on the screens your players use. Start with health, needs, voice and vehicle information, then decide how much control players should have over the layout. Extra visual styles help only when the underlying framework and resource integrations supply the correct data.

JG HUD and qb-hud provide two documented reference points: one with an in-game layout editor across several framework targets, and one documented as part of the QBCore resource set. This is a comparison of published behavior, not a measured claim about which HUD is fastest.

What to compare before choosing a design

AreaQuestion to resolve
Framework dataWhere do hunger, thirst, stress, money, job and gang values come from?
VoiceDoes the HUD understand your voice resource's talking, radio and range states?
VehiclesWhich fuel, mileage, seatbelt and cruise-control systems does it read or replace?
Player settingsCan players resize, reposition or hide elements, and can staff define useful defaults?
ReadabilityAre labels, warning states and controls clear at your smallest supported resolution?
MaintenanceCan you update the resource without losing translations, integrations and layouts?

Two documented HUD options

Ask for GTA V Legacy or Enhanced support for the exact HUD release and voice adapter you plan to use. The Cfx.re Legacy/Enhanced guide documents voice changes; a framework name or layout demonstration does not establish that talking and radio indicators behave correctly on Enhanced.

JG HUD: investigate player layout control

The creator's HUD page lists standalone, QBCore, Qbox and ESX use, player layout customization and vehicle controls. Its installation guide requires ox_lib and states that the HUD itself does not require a database.

The editing guide explains the in-game settings panel and per-player layout changes. It also describes an optional glass effect whose refresh behavior follows the player's performance mode. Evaluate that effect separately from a plain layout if performance is part of your decision.

This is worth comparing when players need to arrange their own interface or your server needs a shared default layout. Confirm that each status value and vehicle control has the required integration. A standalone display mode does not create your server's job, hunger or banking systems.

qb-hud: establish a QBCore baseline

The QBCore HUD documentation describes player vitals, a settings menu, stress events and settings stored locally through KVP. It also calls out safe-zone settings when diagnosing minimap border alignment.

Use it as a baseline when your server already runs QBCore's corresponding data and resource interfaces. Check what your installed release already allows players to change before replacing it. Existing local preferences are part of the rollout: a returning player can see a different layout from a fresh test account.

The documentation does not establish support for ESX, Qbox or a custom framework. If you are considering a port, review that port's own integration and update path instead of inheriting assumptions from the QBCore original.

Separate display from gameplay behavior

A HUD may contain controls as well as indicators. Record which resource handles seatbelts, ejection, cruise control, indicators, stress changes, notifications and progress bars. Decide which implementation you intend to retain, then configure overlapping features accordingly.

For example, a seatbelt icon should reflect the same state that governs your chosen vehicle behavior. A stress bar should read the same value your gameplay resources update. Test both the display and the action; seeing the expected icon is only one part of integration.

Ask the seller for the exact release, supported voice and fuel resources, editable integration files and a description of how settings survive updates. If a demonstration shows custom scripts or a specially prepared layout, ask which parts are included in the package.

Use a repeatable staging check

  1. Save the existing resource, configuration and layouts. Install the replacement and documented dependencies on staging.
  2. Test a new player profile and a returning player with saved settings. Change the layout, reconnect and verify the intended persistence.
  3. Check health, armor, hunger, thirst and any configured stress display against known changes in the source system.
  4. Talk locally and on radio. Change voice range and confirm the HUD follows your voice resource.
  5. Enter and leave representative vehicles. Test fuel changes, speed units, belts and the controls you chose to enable.
  6. Open the phone, inventory, chat and pause menu. Check focus, overlap and whether the HUD hides or returns as intended.
  7. Check small and wide displays, non-default safe zones, long translated labels, daylight and dark scenes.

For performance comparisons, use the same client, scene, route and graphics settings. Check idle behavior, driving, opening settings and optional effects separately. Report the conditions alongside any measurements; a single idle figure is not a useful whole-interface comparison.

Choose the layout that makes routine play easier and whose integrations you can verify. If the current HUD supplies accurate data and can be configured to solve the readability issue, changing its defaults may be enough.
