FiveM Pure Mode is a server setting, sv_pureLevel, that stops players from using modified client files. Level 1 blocks modified files except audio files and known graphics mods; level 2 blocks all modified client files. Add it to server.cfg and restart.
This guide covers FiveM for GTA V Legacy. The Cfx.re Legacy vs Enhanced page says pure mode on Enhanced is always enabled and cannot be turned off, and that graphics mods cannot be used while Enhanced is in early access. See also Standard vs Enhanced. This is a documentation review, not a hands-on RPScripts test: the Cfx.re pages were checked on 13 October 2026, and the verification steps below are for you to run.
| Setting | What the Cfx.re docs say | Pick it when |
|---|---|---|
sv_pureLevel 1 | Blocks all modified client files except audio files and known graphics mods | Your community accepts audio or recognised graphics mods |
sv_pureLevel 2 | Blocks all modified client files | You want every client on unmodified files |
| Not set | The server-commands reference documents levels 1 and 2 only and gives no default | Test what your clients can join before relying on it |
The docs describe the policy by file category, not by extension. The docs do not list which graphics mods count as "known", so do not rely on old forum lists of allowed file types.
server.cfg your server runs at startup (it is executed with +exec server.cfg per the server setup guide; see also configure server.cfg).sv_pureLevel 1The increase_pool_size entry in the same reference says joining servers with different pool sizes requires a game restart, "similarly to" how it works with sv_enforceGameBuild and sv_pureLevel. The sv_pureLevel entry itself does not say this, so treat a restart as likely when players switch servers with different levels.
The docs describe two outcomes. Modified files installed in the FiveM folder are ignored. If a player modified GTA V base game files, they get an error message naming the modified file.
It is a client-file control. It does not make scripts or events safe: check server events and use server-side values, as the Cfx.re Secure Your Events page advises. It does not replace staff review, logging or your server rules, and it can add support work when players have changed base-game files. For graphics mods your players may ask about, see choosing and testing graphics mods and installing them.
It prevents players from using modified client files. Per the Cfx.re docs, level 1 blocks modified files except audio files and known graphics mods, and level 2 blocks all modified client files.
The docs do not name individual mods. Level 1 allows "known graphics mods", level 2 blocks all modified client files, and files placed in the FiveM folder are ignored. Test your exact mod and client build rather than assuming.
The Cfx.re docs describe it as a way to prevent modified client files, not as a cheat-detection system. Server-side event checks and your moderation process are still needed.
Level 1 is the gentler option if players use audio or recognised graphics mods. Level 2 is stricter; try it with representative players first. This is an editorial suggestion, not a Cfx.re recommendation.
The docs say players who modified base game files see an error naming the modified file. Restore that file through the game launcher, restart FiveM and reconnect.
