FiveM F8 Console Commands: The Documented List

The F8 console is FiveM's client console: press F8 in game and type a command from the official list. The documented commands below cover connecting, the FPS counter, the resource monitor, network graphs and key bindings. Several need developer mode.

Every row was checked on 2026-10-13 against the Cfx.re client console commands or server commands page. A command that did not appear in either was left out; see “Not on the official list” at the end. This is a documentation review, not a hands-on test: RPScripts has not run these commands in an isolated test environment, and the list covers FiveM Legacy only. The Cfx.re page has a separate section of Enhanced-only commands that is not covered here.

Client console (F8)

The Cfx.re page says these commands “can be used with the client console, which you can open by pressing F8.” Boolean commands take true or false as shown on that page.

CommandWhat it doesAccessWhere documented
connect <server>Connects using an IP address and port, or a URL.UserClient console commands, “User commands”

cl_drawperf <true|false>Shows FPS, ping, packet loss, CPU usage, GPU usage and GPU temperature in the corner.UserSame page
bind, rbind, unbindbind runs a command on an input (the page's example is bind keyboard F9 "say hi; wait 250; say bye"); rbind only runs while the named resource is in use on the server; unbind removes the bindings of an input.UserSame page

Developer mode

The page states that developer commands show errors such as Access denied for command resmon or Command strdbg is disabled in production mode unless the client runs in developer mode. It names two ways to get there: launch the client with the +set moo 31337 argument on any update channel, or run a non-production update channel such as Beta or Latest. The page warns that other channels “may be unstable and lead to issues including the game being unable to launch.” The page's example for the first method is adding the argument to a shortcut. The Legacy/Enhanced page says the +set moo 31337 argument was removed in FiveM for GTAV Enhanced, where enabling devmode in the client “requires sv_devMode true to be set on the server side (in the server.cfg).”

Server console (not F8)

These run on the server, not in F8. txAdmin lists a Live Console as a feature, but the server commands page itself does not mention txAdmin. The server commands page lists these places they can be executed: an RCon tool, the server console, a server config file, the server command line, and the EXECUTE_COMMAND native if the resource's ACL permits it.

CommandWhat it doesWhere documented
start [resource]Starts a stopped resource; category names such as [cars] also work.Server commands, “Resource commands”
stop [resource]Stops a started resource.Same page
ensure [resource]Restarts the resource if it is running, starts it if it is not.Same page
restart [resource]Restarts a started resource.Same page
refreshRescans resources and loads manifests so new resources can be started.Same page
exec [file]Runs commands from a file.Server commands, “Global commands”
quit / quit [reason]Exits the server; the optional reason is sent to players.Same page
statusLists connected players with identifier, server ID, name, endpoint and ping. Provided by the rconlog resource.Server commands, “Management commands”
clientkick [id] [reason]Kicks the player with that server ID. Provided by rconlog.Same page
say [message]Sends a chat message as “console”. Provided by the chat resource.Same page

The server commands page lists the places those commands run, and the F8 client console is not among them. For installing a new resource this way, see How to Install a FiveM Script (Resource) Step by Step.

What a server can override

The client page marks some variables with “This variable can be replicated from the server via setr usage.” Examples it names are game_enableDynamicDoorCreation, game_originalBikeJump, onesync_population and sv_enableNetEventReassembly. For those variables, the server can supply the value.

The page does not mark cl_drawfps, resmon or netgraph as replicated, and it does not say whether a server can disable them. It also says that resources can add their own commands, which are not part of this list. If a command behaves differently on one server, a resource there may be responsible; check with the server's staff.

Not on the official list

These commands are not on the Cfx.re client or server command pages, so this article does not document them: a general field-of-view command (the official list's only FOV entry is cam_vehicleFirstPersonFOV, vehicle first person only), a clear command, a client-side restart, and help. Treat anything not on the Cfx.re pages as unverified; the FOV guide linked above is an existing RPScripts post and was not re-checked here.

FAQ

How do I open the FiveM console?

Press F8 while FiveM is running. The Cfx.re page says the client console is opened with F8.

How do I show FPS in FiveM?

Type cl_drawfps true in the F8 console for the FPS counter. cl_drawperf true adds ping, packet loss, CPU and GPU values.

Why does resmon say “Access denied”?

Developer commands are blocked in production mode. Cfx.re documents the +set moo 31337 launch argument or a non-production update channel to enable developer mode.

Can a server run F8 commands for me?

Not as F8 commands, but a server can replicate some variables with setr, and resources can register their own commands. Server commands such as ensure are documented for the places the server commands page lists (RCon, server console, config file, command line), not for F8.
