FailRP (fail roleplay) is community slang for roleplay that breaks a scene's believability or a server's rules, such as ignoring a serious injury or acting unafraid at gunpoint. Neither Cfx.re nor Rockstar Games defines it; each server's rulebook decides what counts and how it is handled.
A third-party roleplay vocabulary wiki (page dated 25 September 2026, reviewed by us 13 October 2026) says these terms are community conventions and that each server sets its own thresholds. It describes FailRP as behavior that is unrealistic for the setting in a way that breaks immersion, used when no narrower term applies. Read the rules of the server you play on.
A rule of thumb (our own heuristic, not from any rulebook): would this character, knowing only what they know and facing this situation, plausibly do that? If not, and your server's rules cover it, staff may treat it as FailRP.
| Situation | Example a server may treat as FailRP | Contrasting example |
|---|---|---|
| After a crash or shooting | Carrying on at full speed or fighting as if uninjured | Reacting to the injury under the server's medical rules |
| Held at gunpoint | Joking, insulting or running with no fear for the character's life (see Fear RP in the FAQ) | Staying calm or negotiating in a way that fits the character |
| Impossible stunts | Jumping from a roof and walking away unhurt | Using movement and vehicles as the game and server allow |
| An active scene | Strolling through a robbery as if nothing is happening | Noticing it and reacting in character |
| A bad outcome | Disconnecting to avoid it (this is usually called combat logging, a separate term in the glossary) | Accepting the arrest, loss or injury and continuing the story |
These are illustrations, not a list of offences; your server's wording decides.
These are separate community terms that can overlap, so one incident can break several rules. Powergaming is forcing an outcome on another player or claiming unrealistic ability. Metagaming is acting on information your character could not know. VDM is using a vehicle to attack another character without the roleplay justification the server requires. FailRP is the term for unbelievable behavior when none of these fits. Look up other terms in the FiveM GTA RP glossary, or start with what GTA RP is.
Save a clip that includes the lead-up and aftermath, note the time, and cite the rule from that server's rulebook by name. Use that community's report channel, keep it factual, and leave the decision to staff and the server's process.
A vague "no FailRP" line invites disputes. Define the behavior, add two or three examples from your own police, criminal and medical scenes, state the evidence staff need, and publish how appeals work. Separate first-time misunderstandings from repeated conduct. The server rules guide has a template.
Fear RP means showing appropriate fear for your character's life, for example not mouthing off to someone holding you at gunpoint. Whether ignoring it breaks a rule depends on the server.
That depends entirely on the server. There is no universal punishment; sanctions come from each server's published policy.
Combat logging is disconnecting during a scene, especially to avoid arrest, robbery or death. Servers differ on whether they cover it under a FailRP rule or a separate one. The glossary lists both terms.
